“WATERFALL”

WATERFALL2

SIGNED AND NUMBERED BY THE ARTIST, STAMPED FOR AUTHENTICITY FROM MAGUI FRENCH ATELIER STUDIO AND SPHYNX FINE ART

I am selling the last 25 images of my USA edition of a hand pulled lime stone lithograph, done at an atelier in Paris, France in 1983, some 35+ years ago when my paintings were on exhibition there in the Magui Gallery, known for being the gallery of Salvador Dali fame when the artist was still alive and making art in France and Spain.  I had the privilege of showing my work there along side his work as well as utilizing the service of the artists of his local printmaking atelier to do a 12-limestone pressed lithograph of one of my paintings, named “THE WATERFALL.”  It took 12 separate pressings of the stones, each stone with an individual color to make up the complexity of the image on 100% museum grade cotton fiber watermarked Arches paper, each embossed with the stamp of authenticity of the atelier in Paris where it was created and my own art company, Sphynx Fine Art Ltd.   Each original lithograph hand signed and numbered by artist.

There were 2 editions of 250 each worldwide, before the stone-press images were destroyed, one edition for European distribution and sales from the gallery in France, the other for the USA, brought home by me in 1984 after the exhibition ended. The European edition sold out during the course of the show, the USA edition as I said, came home with me and was sold at galleries in New York, San Francisco, an my art gallery in Los Angeles.  Each graphic sold unframed for $1995.00, I am selling the last 25 images for sale price of $995.00 each, this GRAPHIC done 32-years ago, saving $1000 off asking price for a piece of history added into your own personal space that cannot be reproduced.  San Francisco was known in the counter-culture 60’s and 70’s for Haight Ashbury, Golden Gate Park, and Bill Graham’s The Fillmore Auditorium, and this art was as well known  for that era as the culture.

This graphic [photo above], also with image of the oil painting [4′ x 6′] below was created from my San Francisco East Bay California adolescence as noted in the East Bay “Niles-Hills” [below photo of original painting in private collection] is a bit of my history.

THE WATERALL (oil on canvas 1974)

By education, and hopefully with some talent, but you can be the judge, I am an Associate Professor of Art and Design from the University of California, Berkeley.  I say I am, because my degrees and teaching credential are good for life, so why not?

This offering is the last stone lithograph done from one of the defined eras in my life “that says I was here,” so to speak.  I can say with a smile, that segment was a very special time in my life and creative career, spawning even the boat conceptions for some open designs I am doing today.

Someday, I will be put out to pasture so to speak and paint away on the corner of some little beach town under a palm tree shaded from a hot blistering sun on a sandy beach near the God-given ocean waves, with cold beverage in hand… somewhere in the world, a time I look very forward to.  The perfect image of this art conception would be me adding a brush in my hand with a hand-rolled cigarette hanging in the corner of my mouth, the climbing stream of blue smoke rising to the heavens, but since I don’t smoke, that part of the image will have to be dismissed… but you get the picture.

Let me know what you think.  I am tubing them up for shipment, so let me know if you want one of these last images of the USA edition of the WATERFALL (the European edition is sold out)?

Salutation from the Caribbean,
